About e-Book & MP3 Downloads

Due to current store limitations, if physical products AND downloads are purchased on the same order, the download links will not be emailed until after the physical products are shipped.

We recommend placing 2 separate orders (1 for physical products, 1 for downloads) to ensure immediate receipt. Otherwise a manual delivery is required (please contact us to request). Should you encounter any issues, please contact us at CustomerService@AmericanVision.org.

Please Note:
We provide 6-9 download attempts per item in the event difficulty is encountered and a retry is required. It can take several minutes (even hours) to download a many-paged book or hour long lecture. High-speed internet and an uninterrupted time during download is necessary to allow successful downloading and saving! Please allow sufficient time for the download to occur before closing your browser or turning off your computer.

Please review our return policy concerning e-Book and MP3 downloads.

Please ensure you have Adobe Reader or Preview (for PDFs) and a Media Player such as Itunes or Quicktime (for MP3s). A current up-to-date standard browser (Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Internet Explorer) is also strongly recommended (please ensure you are using the most recent updated version or you may experience difficulty).

Adobe Reader offers Text-to-Speech capabilities in 6.0 and higher. To format into OCR for other softwares, please click here.

What is a PDF e-Book Download?

Quick Answer:
A PDF e-Book Download is a soft (electronic) copy (file) of a book which may or may not also be available as a more costly Paperback or Hardback which will also require shipping charges and that it be shipped in order for you to receive it. e-Book downloads are PDF (Adobe Acrobat Reader files) documents which are uploaded to our site for purchase and then downloaded to your computer. You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the files once you download them.

Instructions for Downloading:
Once you check out (purchase) an e-Book or MP3, your order confirmation window and email will provide the link to download to your computer. Click the link to download and save to your computer (in a place you can locate easily later, such as My Documents). If your computer saves the document automatically and you are not locating the file, please try looking in a Downloads folder or search your computer for the title. You can also log in to your account (if your order was placed while logged into your acocunt) on the store and relocate the download link in your order history.

Please Note: PDFs can be added to Itunes and then utilized on an Ipad; they are not currently formatted for Kindle or Nook devices. Please visit the Nook and Kindle stores to purchase compatible files for those e-reader devices.

What is an MP3 Download?

Quick Answer:
MP3s and MP4s are commonly used digital audio formats. Any audio program imaginable can be formatted in MP3 and MP4. These formats are widely used for playback on computers and portable music players, such as iPods.

More Information:
A unique quality about these audio files are they have a significant amount of what they call "compression" in the file size. This means it takes less hard drive space on your computer than other commonly used digital audio formats like AAC, WAV, and AIFF. You could potentially carry tens of thousands of MP3s and MP4s on your computer without impeding the machine.

The flip side to these two formats versus other digital audio formats is MP3s and MP4s are so highly compressed there is usually some loss of audio quality from the original recording. However, most of the time, listening to an audio lecture, dramatization, or music in these formats you will likely never recognize the difference in the MP3 version from its uncompressed version.

Note that MP3s and MP4s are not compatible with all audio playing devices. When burned onto a CD the audio may not play for some stereos. This happens because the MP3/MP4 formats came much later than some audio players, so the players were not built for compatibility. However, most all audio players made within the last 3-5 years are able to play them.

The greatest positive trait to digital audio in these formats is their portability. You can take them with you using an iPod, iPad, Zune, or other MP3 player. You can save them on any computer, back them up on an external hard drive, and burn them to CDs. The audio files are easy to sort, import, export, and transfer. If need be, there are many affordable digital audio editing applications that let you customize the audio file to suit your purposes.

That's all beginners need to know. Still have questions? For more technical information, see what Wikipedia has to say about MP3s.

Note that American Vision uses both MP3 and MP4 formats. Technicalities: the MP4 format is superior to MP3, so when possible American Vision uses the MP4 format. Most downloads in the store have specifications that identify which format it is in. When you download the audio it indicates which format it is in as well.

How to download your MP3 purchases:
Once you check out (purchase) an e-Book or MP3, your order confirmation window and email will provide the link to download to your computer. Click the link to download and save to your computer (in a place you can locate easily later, such as My Documents). If your computer saves the document automatically and you are not locating the file, please try looking in a Downloads folder or search your computer for the title. You can also log in to your account on the store and relocate the download link.
