What might have been.

Keisha Castle-Hughes sleepwalks her way through the role as Mary in what could have been a great movie had the studio cast someone with talent (who preferably would have been a virgin) in the key role. Castle-Hughes's distinctly uninspired performance drags the whole otherwise well done opus down to the level of lameness. If the viewer makes an effort to see this multiple times, perhaps it is possible to create the Mary role in your mind's eye and then enjoy and be blessed by the other excellent features and performances in this film.
