It is the gospel of Jesus Christ that Paul preached to both the Gentiles and the Jews, causing him to be furiously persecuted by the Jews and sent to Rome in chains. The Jews believed that God's promise to Israel was an earthly kingdom. But God's promise to the Jews was a kingdom over which Jesus Christ should reign in resurrection, and one into which Gentiles are called upon terms of perfect equality with the Jews.
