Deluded Atheist, The: A Response to Richard Dawkins

I really enjoyed the succinct style of Wilson in dealing with atheist Dawkins. Not sure what the other reviewer is saying about it not being understandable - I am by no means that intelligent or a professional student of apologetics, but Wilson's approach was very systematic and appealing. It is in specific response to the arguments given by Dawkins in his book The God Delusion - perhaps it does not make sense to someone who has no reference point, ie has not read or knows nothing about Dawkins' book. But if you understand where Dawkins is coming from, reading this gives the clear and concise answers to that book. I think it's great!

This book could have been an excellent opportunity to debunk Dawkins delusions but that didn't happen. Author Douglas Wilson writes using academic language that is way over the head of the average reader(including me). Why did Wilson write his response in a manner that only intellectuals will appreciate? It was as though he was writing to show off his vocabulary skills but in the process he missed conveying a message to his core audience. I was hoping the author would give Dawkins a one-two punch, but he did not land a blow. The only thing that impressed me is that a single wealthy deluded individual has funded Dawkins, and given him a soapbox to spew his lies. Dawkins would be nothing without a large endowment! It shows how wealth in faithless hands is a corrupting influence on society, but nothing else in this book will sway a non-Christian towards God's word, or set straight the misinformation that Dawkins promotes. Professional students will like this book but if intellectuals only write in a language that they understand then they are not very smart at all!
