Subtitle: A Sermon and Eyewitness Narrative
About the Title: Rev. Jonas Clark was a friend of Paul Revere and John Hancock. When the little village of Lexington heard the cry “The British are coming!” Rev. Clark encouraged his flock at the church of Lexington to stand their ground. He gave his congregation courage to stand in the face of great odds. A year later, Clark preached a sermon titled “The Fate of Blood-Thirsty Oppressors, and God's Tender Care of His Distressed People” to commemorate that fateful day of April 19, 1775, and gave his eyewitness account of the Battle of Lexington.
Jonas Clark tells of the great questions at issue: the principles of personal, civil, and religious liberty, and the right of resistance. Today our country perishes for lack of preachers who apply God's Word. Sadly, we have set aside the heroes of freedom and liberty. The telling of the Battle of Lexington inspires us to stand and make a difference. Features the complete poem “Paul Revere's Ride” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
